State Energy Director (Ohio), Christian Coalition
Tyler Duvelius brings a wealth of experience working on campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels in Ohio. He has also worked in state government in Columbus as well as the Ohio Republican Party. Tyler was a 2015 recipient of the John Kasich Award for Outstanding Male Ohio Young Republican of the Year, and has also been recognized for his volunteer work during the 2010 and 2012 campaign cycles. Energy has always been a leading issue for Tyler who believes America’s energy independence is vital for our nation’s continued, long-term success. As State Energy Director for the Christian Coalition in Ohio, Tyler has the opportunity to put into action his passion for an “all of the above” energy solution for Ohio and the nation. He lives in Columbus and is an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
James L. Ervin, Jr.
Ohio Black Republicans Association
Mr. Ervin is the partner-in-charge at the Columbus office of Roetzel & Andress and a member of the firm’s Business & Commercial Litigation Practice Group, Corporate Compliance Practice Group, and Public Law Practice Group. Ervin has extensive experience in the areas of corporate compliance and regulatory enforcement, complex business litigation, and public law. He also serves as the President of the Ohio Black Republican Association, is a member of the Executive Committee of the Franklin County Republican Party, and is an advisor to numerous campaigns and office holders. Ervin is active in the Central Ohio community and has held leadership roles for numerous community and non-profit organizations and causes. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from Capital University School of Law.
Farmer, Paulding County
Terry W. McClure is President of McClure Farms LLC, which produces corn, soybeans and wheat, and also maintains swine operations in Paulding County. McClure was elected to the Nationwide board in 2004. He is former board chairman of Farmland Mutual Insurance Company and Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Company. He is also a board member of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, Ohio Soybean Council, and The Nature Conservancy. McClure currently serves as Chairman of Northwest Ohio Wind LLC, a company bringing community-based utility scale wind farms to Northwest Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association, Farm Foundation and Soybean Transportation Coalition. He is a former president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and former board member of the Farm Bureau Bank and the American Farm Bureau Federation. McClure has also served as the GOP Statewide Agriculture Chair for multiple presidential, gubernatorial and other statewide campaigns.
Colonel Tom Moe
U.S. Air Force Retired
Colonel Tom Moe (US Air Force retired) has served more than 50 years in military and public service. Most recently, he was appointed by Speaker of the US House of Representative, John Boehner, as Commissioner to the WWI Centennial Commission. Colonel Moe graduated in 1965 from Capital University and, as a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG), earning a Regular Commission in the U.S. Air Force, and in 1967 was assigned to combat duty at Danang Air Base, Vietnam where he flew 85 combat missions including 65 over North Viet Nam. After a weapon malfunction downed his aircraft in January, 1968, and after evading the enemy for three days, Moe was captured and spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in North Viet Nam.
Chairman, Ohio College Republican Federation
Christian Pancake is a native of Defiance, Ohio and is currently a junior at Kent State University, where he is studying Political Science and Philosophy with a minor in Pre-law. In 2014, Christian served as president of the Kent State College Republicans as well as Northeast Regional Director of the Ohio College Republican Federation. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Ohio College Republican Federation overseeing thirty chapters statewide. Christian plans to attend law school upon graduation from Kent State and hopes to remain in Ohio to practice law.
Pickaway County Commissioner
Brian Stewart is a lifelong resident of southern Ohio, a Pickaway County Commissioner, and an Iraq War veteran. After experiencing 9/11 as a high school senior, Brian enlisted for active duty in the Army in 2003 and volunteered to serve in the infantry. After graduating from Basic Training and Airborne School, he was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, and was soon deployed to the Sadr City area of Baghdad in Iraq. During a yearlong deployment in 2005, he conducted more than 150 combat patrols in the city. For his actions, Mr. Stewart earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB), and was twice awarded the Army Commendation Medal before he was honorably discharged in 2006. He is the immediate past Vice President and Spokesman for the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial, a member of the Pickaway County Farm Bureau, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), AMVETS, as well as the Ohio State Bar Association. As the descendant of a lieutenant in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War, Brian is also a member of the Camp Charlotte Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
Brian earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the Ohio State University. He served on Ashville City Council prior to his election to County Commissioner. In addition to his public service career, Brian maintains a successful law practice as a partner with Farthing & Stewart LLP in Circleville. He and his wife Letanya, a registered nurse, live in Ashville with their daughters Salem and Sidney.
Beavercreek City Councilman
Mr. Upton is a native of Beavercreek, Ohio, where he currently serves on City Council. He is also serving his second term as Chairman of the Ohio Young Republicans, after serving in numerous leadership roles with the organization. He has worked on numerous GOP campaigns ranging from local to statewide races and is one of the leading young conservatives in Ohio. Mr. Upton is a client sales manager with Synchrony Financial, formerly GE Capital, where he manages a portfolio of $500 Million of Private Label Credit Card business across key clients in the Furniture Industry. He and his wife Heather live in Beavercreek with their two Black Labradors, Chi and Abbey.
Chariman, Ohio Young Republicans
Sarah Spence is a native of Oak Hill, Ohio, but has called Columbus home for the last 10 years. She currently serves as the chairman of the Ohio Young Republicans, assistance secretary of the Young Republican National Federation, and secretary of the YRNF State Chairmen’s Association. Sarah has worked on campaigns on the local, state, Congressional and national levels. In her professional life, she is the Communications and Legislative Affairs Manager for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. She is a proud OU alumna, is enthralled by ancient Greek and Egyptian cultures, and loves sports.
